Join a growing academic and integrated behavioral health program as an Inpatient Consult-Liaison Psychiatrist.

This position provides psychiatric consultation services throughout the hospital, partnering with medical and surgical teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. The role will also support the Indiana University School of Medicine Psychiatry Residency Program, providing resident education and supervision as part of a new eight-resident psychiatry training program scheduled to begin in July 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for a psychiatrist interested in collaborative care, medical psychiatry, teaching, and program development.

The Inpatient Consult-Liaison Psychiatrist provides psychiatric evaluation, consultation, and treatment recommendations for patients admitted to medical and surgical units. Working collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, and interdisciplinary teams, this role supports the identification and management of behavioral health needs, promotes integrated patient care, and helps optimize clinical outcomes across the hospital setting. In addition to clinical responsibilities, this position will play a key role in supporting psychiatric education and physician development through participation in the Indiana University School of Medicine Psychiatry Residency Program, including the clinical supervision and training of residents.

Location: Deaconess Midtown and Deaconess Gateway Hospitals (Evansville/Newburgh, IN)

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct psychiatric consultations and assessments for hospitalized patients (at Deaconess Midtown and Deaconess Gateway Hospitals). Work with established PMHNPs in the program and other Psychiatrists who will help to provide cross coverage as needed.
  2. Develop treatment recommendations and coordinate behavioral health interventions.
  3. Collaborate with medical, surgical, and specialty teams to support whole-person care.
  4. Assist with complex behavioral health cases, capacity evaluations, and care transitions.
  5. Participate in quality improvement, education, and clinical excellence initiatives.
  6. Weeknight coverage: Approximately nine nights/quarter.
  7. Weekend coverage: Approximately three weekends/quarter.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $322,000 salary + opportunity for annual incentive bonus
  • $75,000 sign on bonus
