This is more than a program leadership position—it is an opportunity to build an exceptional learning environment, mentor future physician leaders, advance academic medicine, and make a lasting impact on the health of the communities we serve.

As Program Director, you will have the opportunity to bring your vision for medical education to life while partnering with engaged faculty, hospital leadership, Graduate Medical Education leaders, and clinical teams across our organization.

Why This Role?

If you are passionate about teaching, mentorship, innovation, and developing physicians, this role provides an opportunity to influence every stage of the resident experience—from recruitment and orientation to graduation and independent practice.

  • Recruit and develop exceptional physicians through a fair, holistic, and mission-driven selection process.
  • Shape the educational experience by developing and advancing a dynamic, competency-based curriculum.
  • Mentor residents and faculty while fostering professional growth, scholarship, leadership, and lifelong learning.
  • Create a culture where people thrive by championing resident well-being, psychological safety, collaboration, and meaningful feedback.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across education, quality, patient safety, and program performance.
  • Collaborate with leaders across UM Capital Region Health to ensure the program continues to meet the evolving needs of our patients, residents, faculty, and community.
  • Maintain excellence in accreditation and program standards while ensuring compliance with ACGME, GMEC, institutional, and specialty-specific requirements.
  • Remain connected to clinical practice, providing care in both ambulatory and inpatient settings.

Your Impact

As Program Director, you will have a meaningful voice in the future of Graduate Medical Education at UM Capital Region Health.

You will oversee the resident experience while cultivating a learning environment grounded in clinical excellence, curiosity, professionalism, belonging, scholarship, patient safety, and compassionate care.

Your leadership will directly influence:

Residents. Faculty. Patients. Our community. And the future of medicine.

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for a physician leader who combines a passion for Internal Medicine with a genuine commitment to education and mentorship.

Required qualifications include:

  • Commitment to academic medicine, resident development, quality, patient safety, and physician well-being
  • Experience working within interdisciplinary and interprofessional teams
  • Experience with Epic or another electronic medical record system preferred
