Washington University School of Medicine (WashU Medicine) and St. Louis Children’s Hospital, in partnership with CoxHealth in Springfield, Missouri, are seeking a board-certified/eligible Pediatric Critical Care Medicine physician to join and lead our WashU Regional Physicians (WURP) Pediatric Critical Care Medicine team.

The successful candidate will join an established, collaborative group providing high-quality care in the six-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Cox Medical Center South.

Cox South is a 706-bed facility which includes a six-bed PICU staffed by 2 full-time physicians with PRN assistance. The 33-bed Level III NICU is covered 24/7 by our team of Neonatologists and NNPs, and our 26-bed Pediatric Inpatient Unit is staffed by board-certified pediatric hospitalists. Other pediatric specialists include endocrinology, gastroenterology, neurology, and more. The Cox Air Care program and the Children's Ambulance provide services for newborn emergency transports. Cox South has been affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network since 1986.

This integrated pediatric ecosystem ensures seamless collaboration across inpatient, critical care, neonatal, and subspecialty services. This role offers an exceptional opportunity to practice high-acuity pediatric critical care within a strong regional network supported by WashU faculty and resources.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality critical care coverage for the PICU at Cox South
• Collaborate with hospitalists, neonatologists, subspecialists, and transport teams
• Participate in quality improvement, clinical initiatives, and educational activities aligned with WashU standards
• Support the mission of WashU Regional Physicians in expanding access to exceptional pediatric care across the region

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree
• Board-certified/eligible in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine
