Physician - Gastroenterology

Froedtert ThedaCare Health is seeking a Gastroenterologist with a focus in Hepatology to join our growing digestive health team in Northeast Wisconsin. This is a new position and an opportunity to help develop and grow hepatology services locally, with strong system support for continued growth.

There is a growing need for specialized hepatology care across the communities we serve. This position will help expand access to comprehensive hepatology services and allow patients to receive more of their digestive health care closer to home.

The Opportunity

This role is ideal for a gastroenterologist who has a strong interest in hepatology and would enjoy being part of a growing service where they can have meaningful input into how care is delivered.

• 1.0 FTE (flexibility to consider as low as 0.75 FTE)
• Opportunity to care for patients with conditions including MASH, hepatitis B and C, and cirrhosis
• Combination of clinic, procedures and inpatient hepatology responsibilities
• Procedural opportunities may include EGD, colonoscopy, ERCP, EUS and liver biopsy, based on training and clinical interests
• Monday-Friday schedule, with standard clinical days of 8-10 hours
• Opportunity for a four-day, 10+ hour schedule 
• Primary practice location:  Neenah, WI 
• Close collaboration with hospitalists, primary care and other specialists

Help Build a Growing Hepatology Service

This is a unique opportunity for a gastroenterologist with a strong interest in hepatology to play a key role in developing and growing hepatology services within Froedtert ThedaCare.

Hepatology has been identified as a priority area for growth, with system support and resources in place to help develop the service. The physician will have meaningful input into how hepatology care is delivered and the opportunity to think creatively about how the service can best meet the needs of our communities.

The long-term vision is to develop a comprehensive hepatology service that allows patients to receive the majority of their care close to home, while maintaining strong connections with regional transplant and specialty partners when higher-level care is needed.

This role will include both gastroenterology and hepatology-focused care, with the opportunity to shape the balance of clinical responsibilities based on the needs of the growing service and the physician's expertise.

The hepatology-focused gastroenterologist will have the opportunity to develop strong relationships with transplant hepatology teams in Milwaukee, collaborating with the Medical College of WI, while remaining connected to a broader Froedtert ThedaCare digestive health team.

About the Team

The digestive health team currently includes two gastroenterologists and APC support across our North region. 

You will join a team of physicians and advanced practice clinicians who have longstanding experience caring for patients throughout Northeast Wisconsin. The practice serves multiple communities and is continuing to expand to meet patient demand.

Candidate Qualifications

• MD or DO
• Board certified or board eligible in Gastroenterology
• Fellowship training in Gastroenterology with a strong interest or focus in Hepatology
• New fellowship graduates are welcome to apply
• Eligible for medical licensure in Wisconsin
