Pediatrics - Hematology/Oncology Physician Jobs

Any child that is diagnosed with a blood disease or a type of cancer is treated by a pediatric hematologist or a pediatric oncologist. This type of physician works within a variety of different settings. One may work within a hospital, a university medical center, a children’s hospital. The way that a blood disease or a cancer works in a growing child’s body is different than how it does in adults. Cancers that a pediatric oncologist may see include bone tumors, brain tumors, leukemia, or a solid tumor on any part of the body. Blood diseases or disorders within this specialty affect the red blood cells, the white blood cells, and/or the platelets of a child. A child may also be suffering from a type of bleeding disorder. These are all conditions that this type of pediatric specialty examines, manages, and treats.
