Join Our Team as a Locum Physician – General Medicine in Houston, TX

In this role, you will perform Compensation & Pension exams and Separation Health Assessments, primarily interview-based with some physical evaluations. You will be instrumental in helping veterans access their benefits accurately and efficiently. Whether working in your own office or at a VES facility (within 50 miles of your home), you’ll have the flexibility to choose assignments that fit your schedule. This is a PRN, ongoing position with options for ½ days or full days, ideal for providers seeking supplemental income with minimal treatment responsibilities.

Required Skills:

• Medical Degree (MD or DO) with active license in Texas
• Board certification or equivalent in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or related fields
• Experience with general medicine, physical assessments, or veterans’ health is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and interview skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently

Nice to Have Skills:

• Previous experience with Compensation & Pension exams or in a veteran-focused practice
• Knowledge of medical documentation and report submission
• Certification in DMA or familiarity with veteran health assessments

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Medical degree from an accredited institution
• Minimum of 2 years clinical practice
• Prior experience in general medicine, veteran health, or relevant assessments preferred

Other Requirements:

• Must have own office within 50 miles of Houston, TX (for those opting for independent practice)
• Willingness to complete training and perform initial exams for bonus eligibility
• Local candidates only; travel is included in the pay rate
• Ability to perform administrative follow-up work such as reports and addendums
• No billable rate or billing reimbursements apply
• Quick credentialing and onboarding process

Compensation:

• Hourly Rate: $624.00
• Flat Rate for 4 Hours or Less: $800
• Flat Rate for 5 Hours or More: $1,600
• One-Time Bonus: $650 upon completion of training and first exams
• Weekly pay via direct deposit, with comprehensive medical benefits (W-2), sick leave, licensure, certification, travel reimbursements when applicable, and access to our dedicated support team.
