The CVICU is a high-acuity tertiary and quaternary care unit caring for complex cardiovascular surgical and medical patients, including post-operative cardiac surgery, advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, mechanical circulatory support, heart and lung transplantation, ECMO, and other critically ill cardiovascular patients.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in the management of critically ill cardiovascular patients, including post-cardiac surgery care, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, mechanical circulatory support, intra-aortic balloon pump management, Impella management, VA and VV ECMO management, temporary ventricular assist devices, and pulmonary artery catheter interpretation. Additional expertise in general critical care medicine, including airway management, bedside procedures, and multisystem organ failure management, is also required.

Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to multidisciplinary, team-based care and have a strong interest in the education of medical students, residents, fellows, and advanced practice providers who rotate through the unit. The intensivist will work collaboratively with cardiovascular surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, pharmacists, nursing staff, respiratory therapists, APPs, fellows, residents, and medical students to deliver exceptional patient care.

We offer a highly collaborative and collegial work environment with outstanding nursing support and significant opportunities for professional growth and academic development. The Department offers highly competitive compensation, flexible scheduling, CME support, and a comprehensive benefits package, including malpractice coverage, Defined Contribution Plan, 403(b) retirement investments with employer match, and medical and dental coverage for the physician and family.
