General Summary:
- Under the direction and supervision of the surgeon, the Aortic & Heart Valve Center PA-C will assist the surgeon with patients of cardiovascular disease related to aortic and heart valve disease in the hospital, clinic and OR.
- Provide patient and family with pre-operative education, answer questions regarding surgery, recovery and risk factor modification.
- Obtain and perform history and physical examinations.
- Record and interpret pertinent data (labs, diagnostic studies, discharge summaries, progress notes, etc.) including writing orders and discharges.
- First assisting in complex cardiac, aortic and heart valve procedures.
- Ability to perform general peri-surgical procedures in the hospital and clinic.
- Admit patients, attend rounds, complete discharge summaries with medication reconciliation and appropriate follow-up.
Schedule Details:
- Monday through Friday
- Weeknight on call responsibilities with rotating weekend coverage
- Campuses covered: AdventHealth Orlando
Required Education/Experience:
- Masters degree in physician assistant studies
- Practicing experience as a cardiothoracic/cardiovascular surgery PA required
Knowledge and Skills Required:
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with physicians, staff, and patients.
- Strong communication skills
- Strong medical decision-making skills
Licensure, Certification, and Registration:
- Current, valid Florida PA-C license or ability to obtain
- Accreditation by NCCPA or other nationally recognized certification organizations
- BLS and ACLS
