The  VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) is a Level I tertiary multi campus teaching facility affiliated with the University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) and over 100 educational institutions. Located  next  to the University of Maryland Medical Center  with a walkway connecting the two facilities, the medical center maintains an active affiliation with the University in the sharing of staff, resources, and technology. Baltimore Veterans Affairs Medical Center is the acute medical and surgical care facility for the VAMHCS and offers a full range of inpatient, outpatient, and primary care services. As one of the most modern health care facilities in the country, the medical center offers veterans state-of-the-art medical technology, clinical services, and research programs. It is home to the worlds first filmless radiology department, which allows health care providers to have nearly instant access to patient radiology images from anywhere in the facility and throughout the health care system. 

Our Infectious Disease Section has a long and proud history at making great strides in discovering ways to prevent and combat infectious diseases. It has strong programs and expertise in antibiotic stewardship, infection control, HIV care, and treatment of viral liver disease. The VAMHCS is currently seeking a full-time board-certified Physician to serve as Chief of Infectious Disease. 

Qualifications

This position requires a MD degree from a recognized accredited university (or foreign equivalent) and board certification in Infectious Disease. Candidates must also be eligible for an unrestricted Maryland medical license. Previous academic affiliation or teaching experience is preferred. Additionally, because this position is funded (in part) by the VA Medical Center, all applicants must be US citizens.
