The Nephrologist will provide direct professional Nephrology services to patient in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. Care will include evaluation and treatment of patients with known or suspected renal disease. Treatment plans may include writing for treatments including: dialysis, rounding on hospitalized patients, attending in clinics, writing of prescription medications, writing for consultative services, diet instruction, and other physician driven or exclusive decisions.

 

Duties

 

Major duties and responsibilities include, but not limited:

  • Consultation and coverage will include assisting present VA Nephrology staff, in addition to provision of clinical and educational training to any Nephrology residents and medical students.
  • The Nephrologist will provide medical and technical support and supervision to any Nephrology residents and/or students.
  • The Nephrologist will provide and/or participate in the resident didactic and clinical care education program, fulfilling the requirements of the AMA Council for Medical Education, for any residents, students, or fellows clinically affiliated with the Salem VAMC, as applicable.
  • The Nephrologist must participate in the Medical Center' Quality Management program through Nephrology indicators, monitors, and by provision of peer review for outcome occurrence screening. This includes attendance at Medical Service conferences, staff meetings, case review conferences, and other education meetings, as applicable.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
