The physician functions within an interdisciplinary staff consisting of physicians, physician extenders, technicians, administrative and clerical staff ultimately accountable to the Chief of Surgery. He/she is responsible and accountable for ensuring the provision of comprehensive

surgical/clinical services, resident supervision (if applicable) and complies with established policies within the Department of Surgery/Gynecology section.

The incumbent is expected to remain privileged and practice in their specialty field. Specific privileges and procedures for a particular physician will be approved by the Professional Standards Board. All physicians must meet the following qualifications:

i. Patient Care: Physicians are expected to provide patient care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the promotion of health, prevention of illness, treatment of disease, and care at the end of life.

ii. Medical/Clinical Knowledge: Physicians are expected to demonstrate knowledge of established and evolving biomedical, clinical, and social sciences, and the application of their knowledge to patient care, and the education of others.

iii. Clinical Judgment: To ensure practice-based learning and improvement, physicians are expected to use scientific evidence and methods to investigate, evaluate, and improve patient care.

iv. Interpersonal and Communication Skills: Physicians are expected to demonstrate interpersonal and communication skills that enable them to establish and maintain professional relationships with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team.

v. Professionalism: Physicians are expected to demonstrate behavior that reflect a commitment to continuous professional development, ethical practice, and sensitivity to diversity, and a responsible attitude toward their patients, their profession vi. Systems-Based Practice: Physicians are expected to demonstrate an understanding of the contexts and systems in which health care is provided and the ability to apply this knowledge to improve optimizing health care.

vii. Perform the full range of gynecologic surgical procedures (laparoscopy, robotic and hysteroscopy) and in-office gynecologic procedures including LARC, vulvar and endometrial biopsy, colposcopy, LEEP, pessary fittings and hysteroscopy.

viii. Be willing to care for the unique needs of our female veterans which includes special training in PTSD and MST (military sexual trauma).

ix. Physician will have assigned OR block time and scheduled clinic times.

 

Administrative Duties:

i. Obligations/Responsibilities: Ensuring the timely completion of medical record documentation.

ii. Completing annual TMS training.

iii. Proper clinical management including indirect/direct patient care: open encounter and open consult maintenance, CPRS documentation requirements, and monitoring of clinic management. Maintains involvement in matters concerning clinic productivity, relevant performance measures, quality and patient safety oversight, and process improvement initiatives.

Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
