Come join the mission of caring for our nation’s heroes! The Salisbury VA Health Care System’s Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service (P&LMS) is seeking a highly motivated, AP/CP Board-Certified or Eligible Pathologist. Candidates should have a strong background and recent experience in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.

Duties

Clinical Pathology:

  • Supervise and interpret activities related to Blood Bank, Clinical Chemistry, Special Chemistry & Toxicology, Microbiology, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Serology, and Flow Cytometry.

Medical Conferences:

  • Deliver presentations at Surgical M&M, Thoracic, General Surgery, Breast Tumor Board, and other conferences as requested.

Professional Interaction:

  • Communicate regularly with physicians, nurses, administrators, technologists, and patients.

Availability:

  • On-call 24/7 via beeper and phone, with occasional on-site duties at the hospital.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is impossible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.
  • Education: A Doctor of Medicine degree or an equivalent degree in allopathic or osteopathic medicine is required.
  • Licensure: Candidates must possess a current, complete, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in a state, territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Residency: Completion of a residency program in an accredited core specialty
  • Board Certification: Candidates must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology
  • Preferred Experience: Current American Board of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, and regular salary increases.
  • Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 federal holidays, and up to 5 days for CME).

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
